I got to #4 in the world, colonized mostly of the Pacific, but stubborn Russia keeps DOWing me to get back those worthless islands north of Japan I decided to colonize. I was able to get Meiji restoration pretty early, and industrialize like a bat out of hell. Militarily, you can wreck stuff, but you get bombarded with rebels from 1870 and on. USCA - a bit easier than Haiti, but you actually have to deal with big brother Mexico and an amalgamation of South American states. I was able to get #10 in the world, mostly with prestige. And your population is too small to get any rebels to get you out. Haiti - really easy and fun, but presidential dictatorships are awful. I just like strategy games where you can use the brain, not get dragged into some peripheral speed contest with the PC/AIД¬lick to expand.Wow, I've played a lot this week.Д«rasil - I stopped after about 1870, since squashing rebels in the Amazon is really a pain in the ass. If its RTS or some Hybrid, but you can stop and start at will - and do it very easily - thats fine. is this beast RTS or TBS ? May even be a hybrid ? Warmongering is a part of life re empire building, and I certainly recognise that, but I dont want to get into a game thats in fact wargaming by another name, and pays lipservice to the other aspects of empire building.

What I am wary of as my final look at this before buying it through Stardock/Impulse (love Stardck - good people, GalCiv2 is a great game) are two things:ДЎ. I have GalCiv2 for the Space side of life, and like it a lot.
